He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 So you are after him! 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And he fears, 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Noble and pious. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
