He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 and who has fear of God, 9 you ignore him. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 How We pour water in showers 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And olives and palms 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
Almighty God's Truth.
