He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 and in awe [of God] 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 to yield therein corn, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
