He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 For him who does not care, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And whereas he fears, 9 You neglect. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
