He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
