He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 You neglect. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 On honoured leaves 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and pious. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
