He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 and fearfully, 9 you pay him no heed. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 lofty and pure, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Noble and pious. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 Olives and dates, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 with darkness overspread: 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
