He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 you pay him no heed. 10 Not this way this is the advice. 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 And We made corn grow, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
