He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 and fears (Allah), 9 you pay him no heed. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble, pious. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 Of what did He create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Let man consider his food: 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 And dense gardens, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Dust shall cover them 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
