He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 you attend to him, 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And he feareth 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
Almighty God's Truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
