The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 For what sin she was killed 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 So where are you going? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
