The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 The rising dawn, 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
