The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Where then are you going? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
