The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
