The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And Paradise brought near, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And the close of night, 17 And the breath of morning 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Then where are you going? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
