The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is wound up; 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 The rising dawn, 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
