The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 The rising dawn, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
