The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 And when the seas rise, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 and the night that falls, 17 The rising dawn, 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
