The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 And when the books are spread, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 (Then) every soul will know what it had prepared (for itself). 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 Where then are you going? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
