The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 The mountains made to move, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
