The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 When whither go ye? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
