The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 The rising dawn, 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 where then are you going? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
