Al-Takweer
The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
29 verses, revealed in Mecca after Thorns (Al-Masad) before The All High (Al-A'alaa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 by the night swarming, 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 When whither go ye? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
