The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
