The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 and the night that falls, 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 So where are you going? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
