The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 And when the pages are made public 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
