The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is covered, 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 And when the books are spread, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 And the breath of morning 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
