The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 And when souls are united, 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Where then will you go? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
