The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what sin she was killed 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 that hide, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 where then are you going? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
