The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 So where are you going? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
