The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 by the night when it approaches 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
