The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 And when the books are spread, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 by the night when it approaches 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
