The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 And when the books are spread, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 by the night swarming, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 where then are you going? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
