The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is wound up; 1 And when the stars fall, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Then where are you going? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
