The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 And when the stars darken, 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 (Then) every soul will know what it had prepared (for itself). 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 Where then are you going? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
