The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 The rising dawn, 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
