The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 When whither go ye? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
