The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 and the night that falls, 17 And the breath of morning 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 And it (the Quran) is not the word of the outcast Shaitan (Satan). 25 Then where are you going? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
