The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 The rising dawn, 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Where then will you go? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
