The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 And when the books are spread, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
