The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 that hide, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 And you do not will except that Allah wills - Lord of the worlds. 29
