The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 And when the stars fall, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 And when the pages are made public 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 that hide, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 The rising dawn, 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 When whither go ye? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
