The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Where then will you go? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
