The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 (Then) every soul will know what it had prepared (for itself). 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 The closing night, 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
