The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 The mountains made to move, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 And when the souls are paired 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 And the close of night, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
