The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 by the night swarming, 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 And it (the Quran) is not the word of the outcast Shaitan (Satan). 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
