The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Then where are you going? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
