The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 And it (the Quran) is not the word of the outcast Shaitan (Satan). 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
