The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
