The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 and the night that falls, 17 and brightening morning, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
